Shamokin needs animators!

By Sophie Sienkiewicz  ‘23, staff writer

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at animation? The Screen Arts Institute is joining with the Shamokin Creek Restoration Alliance and Shamokin’s Environmental Resiliency Committee to host a 2-day animation challenge on April 29 and 30.

Students from both Shamokin Area and Lourdes Regional high schools were asked to form a minimum of five 4-person teams and reserve their spot by March 1. Students do not need to have prior animation experience.

Teams will be broken up and given a short lesson on basic animation skills. Teams will then be given the rest of the day to create a short film for the Shamokin Creek Restoration Alliance. They will then be open to the public to watch the following Sunday. Students are to use their imagination and creativity to catch the attention of the local leaders who will judge animations!

A cash prize of $400 will be split between each member of the winning team.
