By Jayden Duganitz ‘24, staff writer

Shamokin Warms My Heart, a fun springtime event, occurred April 8, and featured food trucks, vendors and games, following Mrs. Brown’s Easter Egg Hunt at 1 P.M. These events were held at the Volunteer Park in town.

Shamokin Warms My Heart is focused on Shamokin’s best offerings! This year the organization included vendors as well having more of a variety. The event featured different activities to attract the youth. ‘’We encourage organizations/clubs to get involved however they’d like to!” says Sarah Shepard, one of the organizers for this event.

Two-hundred and fifty children participated in the Easter egg hunt, which offered 10,000 eggs that were filled with candy and vouchers. Six lucky participants received bicycles, while another lucky 10 were awarded "Mrs. Brown's Golden Ticket," which provided them with fully-stocked Easter baskets.

Students from Shamokin Area's Future Innovators of Shamokin (FIOS) helped to fill the Easter eggs.

While the Egg Hunt event was for children ages 0-10, Shamokin Warms My Heart is for all ages, young and old. The event featured food and craft vendors, perfomances by Heath's Gym Dance Crew and Shamokin Area's Indoor Requiem Color Guard. Down n' Out, Shamokin Area's musical duo of Samantha Stancavage and Aiden Krebs, also performed.

“If anyone would like to help organize the event, especially things that would interest high schoolers, please see Mrs. Suchanick,” added Shepard.
