Shamokin Area’s Future Innovators of Shamokin (FIOS) took third place and won $1,000 in the annual STEM competition on March 23 hosted at Bloomsburg High School. This is the second year in a row FIOS captured third.

This year FIOS created an electronic bulletin board out of a Raspberry Pi kit. Last year, members built a virtual escape room.

SA FIOS competitors included Joseph DeWitt, Jayden McKeen, Brett Nye, and Colton Lynch, all seniors; Lyla Barrett and Kennedy Petrovich, juniors; and Joseph Hile, sophomore. Mrs. Suchanick, BCIT/CS Teacher, is the club’s adviser.
