The participants of Shamokin Area Orchestra attended a workshop in Disney’s EPCOT to record a soundtrack for a potential up-and-coming Disney animated film. The trip also included members of the Line Mountain High School Band.

Band and orchestra students traveled to the Disney parks in Florida from Feb. 12 - 19, where they performed in a parade in the Magic Kingdom, participated in a workshop, and enjoyed the various parks.

Every four years, the annual Disney trip is a huge treat and educational experience for students who participate in the Shamokin Performing Arts.

Students departed on a Sunday and arrived at a hotel on Monday. On Tuesday, students enjoyed the different countries, foods, and culture of EPCOT, while the orchestra took part in the workshop. On Wednesday, the band members of Shamokin and Line Mountain school districts became cast members for the day! The band paraded on Main Street and looped in front of Cinderella’s Castle, which was surrounded by thousands of park goers.

After a successful parade, on Thursday students adored the many different animals at Animal Kingdom. On Friday they wrapped up their park adventures with Hollywood Studios and ended the night by attending the nighttime Fantasmic show and fireworks. On Saturday, students departed from Florida but not without stopping at the historic St. Augustine. They arrived at Shamokin Area on Sunday with fresh suntans and new memories.
