Elegance! Sparkle! Mystery! Fun!
All four are guaranteed at this year’s prom, which features Masquerade Ball as its theme. The prom will be held May 12, with a promenade in the auditorium at 5:30 p.m. and dinner and dancing from 7-10 p.m. at the Brady Banquet Hall. Crowning of prom royalty will be at 9:30 p.m.
Earlier in the school year, juniors voted on the theme via Google survey. “They had four ideas to choose from,” explained Mrs. Reed, class adviser. “They voted and Masquerade Ball had the most!”
According to Mrs. Makowski and Mrs. Reed, class advisers, tickets cost $40 each and went on sale April 11 in the library in the morning and during homeroom. When students purchase their tickets, they will indicate their size for the prom gift, which will be a specially-designed crewneck sweatshirt. Junior, Nina Wilk created the design.
Prom decorations will feature the colors black, gold, and silver, along with endless sparkle.
The stage for the promenade will feature chandeliers, feathers, a giant masquerade mask, an arch for prom-goers to walk through, and ‘diamonds’. Art teacher Mr. McGugan created the stage design. According to the advisers, the prom committee met March 3 to brainstorm ideas for decorating the outside of the high school and creating a photo area at the banquet hall.
While students will not be required to wear masquerade masks, there will be ones available at the banquet hall.
A new treat this year will be the entertainment provided by Down and Out, a musical duo composed of Aiden Krebs and Samantha Stancavage, both seniors. Also performing with Down and Out will be seniors Ethan Kauffman and Alyvia Charriez. Prior to prom, the duo displayed posters with QR codes that students could access to request songs for them to play at prom.
Another treat for prom-goers will be the opportunity to have Pelican Snowballs for a designated time.
