The Lady Indians varsity team qualified for districts and ended the season with a 16-9 record, while the junior varsity finished with a 13-4 record.

“The current goal was to win the first round game into the district finals and win districts,” stated Chris Venna, Lady Indians head coach.

The Lady Indians beat Mifflinburg 30-20 in the first game in districts. From the beginning of the year to the end, the Lady Indians have improved, and Coach Venna believes the team can reach their full potential if “ We start limiting our turnovers and making better shots.”

The team captains for the Lady Indians are Desiree Micheals and Madison Lippay.

The Lady Indians have became a great team, but what really makes a great team?

“When you have a group of student athletes who are willing to put their ego aside for the betterment of the team,” explained Venna.

The Shamokin Lady Indians often get in foul trouble in games, the team is adaptable because of good subs who step in for the team.

The junior varsity and varsity have a great bond, too.

“They do get along, for the most part; sometimes there’s a breakdown but for the most part we’re great,” said Venna.

The Lady Indians have done better this year than last year's season, the attitude, skill, and sportsmanship have all gotten better. The biggest strength for the Lady Indians is their defense and their athleticism.

The hardest conference game for the Lady Indians was North Schuylkill, which ended with the score of 34-56.  Coach Venna believes with hard work and good attitude, that the Lady Indians will make it states next year.
