Sophomore Chase Pensyl, the singular Shamokin Area jumper to compete at the PTFCA state championship this year, finished with an impressive jump of 5’10’’ in the high jump. Pensyl finished 19th in the ordeal, and proudly competed among the other jumpers in the high jump.

The 2023 indoor track and field season wrapped up at the competition, which was hosted by Penn State University on February 26.

Before this championship meet, Shamokin Area’s  team raced at some high intensity invitationals. Some of these include the Kevin Dare Memorial Invitational at Penn State University's Horace Ashenfelter III indoor track, the 2023 Ocean Breeze Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Sports Complex, and weekly meets at Susquehanna University's Field House.

The Shamokin Area Track and Field team hopes to send even more athletes to the state championships next year, and are just starting to spring into the outdoor season. Track and field is a great way to stay in shape, meet new friends, and learn new skills. The team’s first practice was March 6.
