The boys basketball team achieved its 1,000-point win milestone and ended its season 19-8 which pleased both Coach Chris Zimmerman and the team, but they’re not about to sit back and relax.

“The goal for the team is to win the district title,” stated Zimmerman. And to do that, he explained the winning formula: “ (We) Need hard-working kids on and off the court. Doing well in school and having a really good attitude and tremendous effort on the court.”

Zimmerman explained that some of the opponents were tough this year. “We played a lot of tough teams, but Williamsport and Abington Heights were definitely a challenge,” he said.

Shamokin achieved some impressive wins. In fact their 1,000th win was against  Shikellamy, with the score being 76-49.

Team captains were Cameron Annis, Joe Hile, Jason Leiby, and Rylan Price.

Zimmerman emphasized the importance of working as a team on and off the court toward their full potential. He said the team will be “concentrating on our culture and concepts and playing hard and smart together.”

He noted that the Indians’ strengths are playing together. “They love competing and play extremely hard every opportunity they get,” he noted. “They get along extremely well.”
